This was awarded to a member of Panzer Regiment 23! Panzer Regiment 23 was formed on November 10, 1938 in Schwetzingen, Wehrkreis XII. The regiment was set up without a staff and only with the 1st Division of 3 companies.

The regiment was not subordinate to a division, but was set up as an army troop. During the Polish campaign it was used by the 17th Infantry Division. From November 1, 1939, the department was subordinated to the 25th Panzer Regiment in the 7th Panzer Division. On April 1, 1940, the department was renamed the II Division of the 25th Panzer Regiment.

On August 16, 1943, a new 23rd Panzer Regiment was formed in Poland. The Panzer Regiment 201 of the 23rd Panzer Division was renamed for formation.

The new regiment remained subordinate to the 23rd Panzer Division. It was now divided into 2 departments of 4 companies each and a 9th IG company. In August 1943 the regiment was near Baranow. It was then moved to Transylvania in September 1943.

In 1945 the regiment was deployed in Hungary. From 1939 onwards, Panzer Replacement Company 23 in Schwetzingen, Military District XII, was responsible for replacing the first department of the regiment. From 1943 onwards, the Panzer Replacement Department 7 in Böblingen, Military District V, was responsible for providing replacements for the new regiment. Made of silver, this presentation Schnapps shot glass is. One of a kind item!

It features a stylized and quite prominent "P 23" in the center, with the date of January 17, 1941 below. Reverse has an inscription/signature, though I cannot identify it at this point of time. It does have some marks, scratches, and wear due to the age, but otherwise quite solid. Would make a PERFECT addition to any.
