This is a German Army Infantry Wool Winter Cap (Wehrmacht-Infanterie-Wintermutze aus Wolle). This is a very unusual wool cap produced for the German Army on the Russian Front. It is manufactured in the standard Wehrmacht field gray wool material with sheep wool flaps on it to keep the ears warm. There is a short bill to the front of the cap.

There are no marking on the interior as to maker or size, and it does not look like an eagle was ever attached to the front of the cap. There are ties on the interior to tie the cap on, as well as a chin strap on the exterior. Does not look to have ever been worn as it is extremely clean.

Most Russian Front caps were produced from rabbit pelts so this makes this cap both odd and rare. Great piece for anyone's collection. They are all authentic unless otherwise noted in the description.
