GERMAN ARMY WW2 SNOW CAMO OVERWHITE SMOCK ANORAK Wehrmacht Schneetarnjacke Dated 1941 Originally a Gebirgsjager special issue, it became apparent that all branches of the wehrmacht were in need of a lighter issue which provided camouflage as well as protected the expensive padded uniform. Available in quantity to the Wehrmacht from 1943 onwards, after which it became a widely issued item. Extremely simple construction featured a 3-button, extremely wide body which could fit over the heaviest clothing, wide sleeves without cuff-buttoning and a hood without drawstring. In theory this garment was to be handed in as the winter campaign season came to an end for cleaning and storage.

This became impossible as the war progressed and with warmer weather most were simply discarded. Today these are among the rarest winter items of the Wehrmacht. ORIGINAL ITEM MARKED M41-MEANING THAT IT WAS RECEIVED FROM THE MFG FOR DISTRIBUTION AT THE MUNICH QM DEPOT IN 1941. ALSO FEATURES POST WAR NORWEGIAN "HÆREN"-MARKINGS AS IT WAS REISSUED FOR USE WITH THE NORWEGIAN ARMY. SINGLE LAYER COTTON-Cut very large and wide to fit over padded winter clothing.
