Original German Army (Heer) or Waffen-SS camouflage rank patch, corresponding to the rank of Oberleutnant (First Lieutenant) in the Army or Obersturmführer in the Waffen-SS. Bought from a WW II veterans estate in Missouri. The insignia system was introduced by the Heer in August 1942 and subsequently adopted by the Waffen-SS in February 1943, for wear on the left sleeve of various camouflage uniforms.
An authentic piece would date back to the World War II era, specifically from 1942 to 1945.
