These heavy field coats were issued to German soldiers and officers during the early years of the war and were designed to provide warmth and protection in harsh field conditions. The German M35 greatcoat was introduced prior to the war and remained the standard cold weather outer garment for the German Army throughout much of the conflict.
Made of VERY FINE tailored Doeskin style officer quality wool, this M35 Officer's Greatcoat is in SUPERB used condition! It features the classic early M35 double breasted configuration with two rows of six buttons for a total of twelve buttons. All original aluminum pebbled buttons remain present and intact with the right side buttons manufactured by Assmann while the opposite side features the slightly dished style aluminum buttons, all sewn with original thread. The coat retains a full length satin gray green lining which remains exceptionally clean and intact throughout. The interior retains the original tailor label reading Joh. Müller - Trier - Gegr. 1797 along with an additional internal owner label bearing a handwritten name (though hard to read). The coat also retains an interior breast pocket as well as the internal hanger and slit opening designed for suspension of a dagger when worn with formal uniform.Evidence of the original sewn-in shoulder boards is visible through remaining stitch holes at the shoulders indicating the boards were removed at some point after the war. The interior also retains the typical internal shoulder suspension loops used when wearing the coat draped over the shoulders. Overall the coat remains in STUNNING used condition with no moth damage, no tears, no staining, and no repairs! The wool remains extremely soft and supple and the coat shows virtually no signs of wear making this a PERFECT example of an early WW2 German Army M35 greatcoat!
