WW2 Original German Army Official Lieut General's Shoulder Board Red piped

  

Original WW2 German Army Official Shoulder Board for either an Area Administration or Agricultural Service High Grade Career Lieutenant General (Wehrmachtbeamte Heer Schulterklappen für ein Höherer Dienst Generalstabsintendant). German Administrative Personnel had a variety of career streams and rank titles that varied at various times during the war. Area Administration or Agricultural Service Lieutenant Generalls could only be high grade career (Höherer Dienst) but could have a variety of rank titles, depending on their actual role. The Rank title above is just the most common.

Standard sew in pattern used on a range of uniform items. Has the standard Backing Material in Dark Green (Dunkelgrün) which denotes Administration personnel , with the Secondary bright red piping to denote Area Administration and Intendants Service (Wehrkreisverwaltung und Intendantur) and Agricultural Service (Heereslandwirtschaftswesen). Also reported to be used by the Artillery Measuring Service (Artillerie-Messdienst) and the Sound Ranging Service (Schallmesswesen) , but these two have not been confirmed.

This board has never been used. It has no obvious damage. Overall, it is in Excellent condition. Base material is a soft wool in Dark Green which has no mothing or other damage. Braid is a Bright Silver Bullion with green arrow head shaped flecks, surrounded by Bright Gold Bullion.

The gold appears to be the cellon type (sometimes referred to as celleon) and it has no tarnishing. Secondary colour is bright red, and this is also undamaged, and the colour is still bright. Cypher is HV (Heeresverwaltung - Army Administration). Cypher is silver washed metal. 18.8 mm (0.74 in) high by 14.1 mm (0.56 in) wide. Pip is silver washed metal. 21.0 mm (0.83 in) high. Board is 109.4 mm (4.31 in) long edge and 42.7 mm (1.68 in) short edge. The board weighs about 28.1 grams (0.99 ounces).
