This is a Czech made reproduction German ww2 ersatz style pioneer handsaw scabbard. As the war progressed materials like leather became more difficult to obtain so substitute materials were used. In the case of leather a paper fiber and impregnated artificial leather "PRESSTOFF" began to be used and was often seen in black or tan. This particular item tries to replicate that look. Since an adequate material similar to Presstoff cannot be found and any material close to it would not be durable (Presstoff was not that durable either).

This item was made with leather finished to be the same color as presstoff attaining the same look but will be more durable and actually usable.
